Neither. Using a squishie (low armor rating) class as a warrior is never a good idea for pvp, because they can kill you very easily. If you aren't in close combat, using a warrior seconday is a bad idea also.

A Ranger isn't really squishy, at least not as squishy as a caster. However, using a R/W for PvP is still a dicey prospect to most, even though Expertise lets you spam energy using warrior skills, and there are a few other tricks you can pull (which I'd rather investigate a bit before spouting as gospel truth). I wouldn't worry about being 'killed easily' in PvP though, since Rangers are targetted second to last. By the time someone gets around to attacking you, the fight's already over.
Some people use a Warrior secondary for the defensive aspect of it (ie. Tactics skills like Bonetti's Defene and Disciplined Stance, the second of which is great in that it only ends prematurely if you use an adrenaline based skill), rather than the offensive. So its not so much a bad idea as a possible option.

I agree with kishin. I do not think this is a terrible idea at all, I think you just have to change your idea of what your build can do. A necro or ranger warrior could be fairly good against other warriors that are attacking them, with all of the defensive skills they obtain from the warrior secondary.
I think it's worth a try ...
I also hate saying this because I read it so often... there is no bad primary/secondary it just depends on how you play it.

To be honest, I never was fond of Necromancer and Warrior combination.
I have a Ranger/Warrior myself and I must say the build is open to many interesting possibilities. Adding Warriors' weapon proficiency to rangers' flexibility results in a 'dirty fighter'. Use skills like Throw Dirt as well as ranger's defences (you'll need Expertise anyway) and spam those energy skills.

For R/W, the evasive skills of Expertise (which you will use) more than makes up for the marginally better armour of Warriors. You also have plenty of skills that make up for the loss of Strength (Tiger's Fury, Apply Poison). The main advantage over W/x is better energy management, which can be great for using certain skills.
I played a fair amount of arena with my Mo/W, and the melee class that gave me the most trouble was N/W. Now, I'll admit that was at lower levels, but the point is that N/W is a surprisingly destructive class. I think the problem that you will find at higher levels of PvP, however, is that it is far to easy to control melee classes. If you do find yourself in a position to really lay on the hurt, then you are doing to be more vlulnerable than most to the attentions of the ever present spike air ele's. You could use /W just for tactics, but I'm not convinced that there aren't better defensive options for casters.

At the moment, I don't, as I recently dumped all my points in Healing, Divine and Smiting (12/11/11). Right up until ascension though, I used mostly swordsmanship, healing and divine. The basic principle being to save my energy for healing, whilst still being able to deal out some damage (using adrenal skills). Without strength to give you that extra edge in combat, I found the classic sever/gash combo to be most effective.
At higher levels, however, I simply found I was spending too much time healing to get stuck in with the sword. Even when farming, I was doing more damage with (then low attribute) smiting skills, so it got dropped. A change of secondary is likely (probably dull Mo/Me), but I'm collecting Warrior elites at the moment.
